A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING J.Z. GEORGE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH FARRISS JENKINS FOR HIS OUTSTANDING COACHING CAREER WITH TWO HUNDRED VICTORIES.

WHEREAS, J.Z. George Head Football Coach Farriss Jenkins had an outstanding coaching career that spans over forty years and he won his 200th football game, defeating McAdams 52-24 during the 1998 football season; and

WHEREAS, throughout his career, Head Coach Jenkins has coached several teams with perfect seasons and won the State Championship in 1982; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Jenkins, a goal oriented man, set many goals for himself as a Coach and has accomplished such goals as winning the State Championship, coaching in the Mississippi All-Star Football Game, coaching in the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star Game and winning two hundred football games; and

WHEREAS, the J.Z. George Wildcats have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coach Farriss Jenkins who has broadened the Wildcats' knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution for thirty-four years; and

WHEREAS, Head Coach Farriss Jenkins has encouraged, loved and supported many football players during his forty years as a Coach; and

WHEREAS, it is the policy of the Legislature of the State of Mississippi to recognize and commend remarkable individuals such as Head Coach Farriss Jenkins, whose long and distinguished career has impacted the lives of hundreds of young people:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we do hereby commend Head Coach Farriss Jenkins for his outstanding career and winning his 200th football game and extend our heartiest wishes in all his future endeavors.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Farriss Jenkins and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
